The
right water filter.
What to look for in Water Filters
Water filters vary from one model to another. Some water filters
only make the tap water taste better, while other systems remove
contaminates such as lead and arsenic giving you clean H2O. How
well a water purification filter performs can be verified by reading the
product's performance data sheet, which will list all of the
contaminants that filter or system, is certified to remove from the
water and at what percentage. In several states, it is the law
that this information be included either as part of the promotional
literature, or in the package itself.
There are a few portable water filters that you can take along with you
on camping trips to purify lake or stream water. Then there are
filters that attach to faucets giving you pure fresh water only from
that source. However, if you want fresh water throughout your
home, then a whole house water filter may be what you are looking for.
It attaches to your main waterline and depending on the filter will
remove toxins from entire household water supply.
To decide which system is right for you, first, decide what you want to
do, remove as many harmful chemicals as possible, or simply make your
water taste better. Then you need to decide if you want a simple
filter, such as the filtering pitchers that only filter the water you
pour into them, one that attaches to only one faucet or if you want of
filter your entire household water supply. When you use a filter
that attaches onto a faucet, you are provided with an unlimited pure
water supply, just as with a whole house system.
