Every day we discover more information about the chemicals in our tap water many of these chemicals have been tied to cancer and heart disease.  More people are installing drinking water filters for cleaner and safer drinking water.  However, it is surprising to me the number of individuals who still believe that drinking water filters for their homes will cost a small fortune.  This isn't true.  In fact, installing drinking water filters is less expensive than purchasing a years supply of bottled water.

There are several varieties of drinking water filters available to you.  Before purchasing one, decide which model will meet your needs.  Some filters fit under your sink, or on your countertop, while others attach directly to the faucet.  Some filters are an actual pitcher, which filters the water you pour into them.  With a family, this may not be the best solution.  If you want maximum protection, then a whole house water filtration system is your best solution. 

Once you have decided on the type of water filtration system you want, then you have to decide on the model.  This process isn't as hard as you may think.  How well any drinking water filter performs can be verified by reading the product's performance data sheet, which will list all of the contaminants that filter or system, is certified to remove from the water and at what percentage.  In several states, it is the law that this information be included either as part of the promotional literature, or in the package itself. 

Once you have purchased and installed your water filters, to maintain the best possible
